Frequently Asked Questions

Q: Why should my I join Delta Zeta?

Women join Greek organizations for different reasons, but all of us are bound by common values and ideals—friendship, service, scholarship, personal development and leadership. Being a Greek woman is a special experience that offers college students opportunities to develop and grow personally while meeting a group of lifelong friends. In addition, sorority membership offers a network support that can be beneficial when living far from home or in a large university environment.

The benefits of being a member of a Greek organization extend well beyond the collegiate years. When moving to a new city, you can instantly form friendships with sorority alumnae in the area. When you're trying to enhance your career, the network of sorority women can help you achieve your next professional goal.

Overall, being in a sorority offers a values-based learning environment for women to thrive in their collegiate years. To learn more about being a sorority woman, visit the National Panhellenic Conference website at www.npcwomen.org.

Q: Does Delta Zeta haze?

Delta Zeta cares about each and every one of our members. That is why Delta Zeta has a zero tolerance policy towards hazing of any kind. Delta Zeta's official hazing policy is as follows:

"No chapter, colony, student or alumna shall conduct, participate in or condone hazing activities. Permission or approval by a person being hazed does not justify hazing or warrant lessening the appropriate penalty for hazing activities. New, initiated or alumnae members who allow any member to be hazed, regardless of whether they directly participate in the hazing activity, are considered to have violated the anti-hazing policy. Any member who is aware of planned, attempted or previous hazing activities and does not report those will also be found in violation of this policy – bystander behavior has no place in Delta Zeta."

Q: How much will it cost to join Delta Zeta?

We establish our dues and fees structure in a way that will align with our campus community’s norms. Typically, we aim to have our total membership the lowest costing of the Panhellenic chapters. For more detailed cost information, please contact our Treasurer, listed under Officers.

Q: How much time will I have to commit to Delta Zeta?

Our chapters are asked to have meetings at the same time every week. We encourage our chapters to make the most of their time together and combine activities where possible, rather than adding to the calendar. In addition to chapter meetings, your can expect to participate in other campus activities such as other organization's philanthropy events and community service projects. We want to respect our member's time and help them work smarter, not harder.
